How I got into gaming/anime/manga

ABOUT THE NERD STUFF
My earliest memory is shooting innocent ducks in duck hunt on the NES. I've been wasting my years playing video games FAR TOO LONG. As a child I had many childish dreams like getting into the comic book and video game industry, I even aspired to be a voice actor. Back in those days those were pretty realistic dreams. But as time passed all my interests which were at the time unknown by the common man became huge. That's okay, but everything I liked became huge and shitty. The comic book section is now plagued with manga. Shit manga. Video games now have the best graphics ever, they have come a long way from the Atari ages. But now gameplay is missing. Everything is just fucking movies. Anime? The anime scene did get bigger, but just like video games and comic books...I'm no longer intersted in it. Instead I just grew up to be an angry confused adult that doesn't know which direction to go in life. But I still enjoy all the retro shit.
CHALON HEIRAL?
It's my artist alias. Why the hell would I go through the trouble of making things under two separate names? Well WHENEVER I get really good I'd rather be known for my art instead of being known as the person who draws that shit. Mainly, I don't want my face attached to my art. But of course I just killed the $3kR!+ here. As for the name, it comes from Madame Polgniac's real name in RoV and the surname is derived from the only good villian in any Final Fantasy game ever, Delita Heiral.
WRITING?
How long have I been writing? Well I simply just write because it's an alternative to letting shit out without beating anything up. Especially nowadays where everyone is sensitive - I have to pretty much keep shit to myself. If anyone has been to school with me they'd know that I pretty much suck or am average at any subject not Japanese or Art.
Somehow when it'd come to English classes the teachers would rave about my so called 1337 writing skills. Oh there's been many times, starting in 2nd grade. I moved midway into the school year. On my last day of school before I left to move my teacher instructed all the kids to leave the class. I was confused but I found out he did that so he could sneak in a surprise gift in my bag, a diary. This wasn't one of them cheap diaries either, it came with a lock and had a leather cover and everything. I didn't really understand why he was giving me that but then he said that I was really good at writing and I should never loose that skill.
At the next school I transferred to during that year my teacher pretty much insulted the whole class when she said: "You all need to learn how to read and write better like Mika." Then there was this time in 3rd grade my teacher liked my entry so much that for the first time in his life he gave me three stars (instead of the normal two) because he was that impressed. In 4th grade I normally didn't have to do English assignments. Instead I was given the opportunity to proofread and check everyone else's assignments when it came to writing because my teacher knew I was the writing guru of the class. She wanted me to make sure all the other kids wrote as good as me. Come to 5th grade my whole class was given as assignment to write a short story for the kid's section of a local California newspaper. (I don't recall which paper it was but I was living in Fairfield at the time.) A short story I wrote with a friend (but was mainly written by me) was the only story in the whole class that got printed. I wish I still had the paper but my at the time pushover self let her have it when she didn't even write the majority of the story. (Not to mention she got more credit for it from my peers than I did because it was funny. Little did people know I wrote those damn jokes!) There was also a time in 5th grade where we all had to write a story. I named mine "The Guru of Time" and my teacher just picked up my paper upon reading the title and exclaimed to the class how good I was at writing. Even just the title was interesting. No I did not mention I actually just ripped off Chrono Trigger. 6th grade my science class had the opportunity to ask "well renowned" scientists (No I don't remember who they were) a question about anything. I jokingly wrote down a question and said it in a mocking tone to my friend. The next day I was the only one that got picked to ask a question and was on TV or some shit. (Some nerd channel no one watches) My friend couldn't believe my joke of a question was actually chosen. I got free nerd swag because of that random question.
In 7th grade for English class we did the usual daily journal entry stuff. My teacher was so impressed she called me after school one day. I thought I was in trouble but she just wanted to tell me how brilliant I am and how talented I am at writing. In 10th grade I wrote some power point and one of my teachers could NOT stop talking about it. Hell he was still talking about how great it was a year later. In 11th grade my English teacher made an announcement to the class about how brilliant and smart I am. During college I got a bunch of shitty ass grades when it came to general education. I didn't finally get my first A (that wasn't Japanese) till I took a Speech & Communication class. Of course I was terrible at speaking but my teacher was also an English teacher and even he complimented my writing style. I also aced the last English class I took a year ago.
But despite all those compliments I don't think I'd ever seriously consider becoming a writer aside from making satirical comics.
